The sound design in this series is the best thing about it. You can hear every syllable they utter, and the full breadth of sound when Lady Marchmain turns the pages of the book. It makes the experience of watching the show that much better, as if you were living it. Hats off to the sound crew: Peter Elliott, Phil Smith, John Whitworth, Chris Atkinson, and Malcolm Davies.
Tabu, a Portuguese film by Miguel Gomes. It’s one of the best movies I’ve seen all year: a captivating combination of surrealism, myth, post-colonial commentary, cinematic criticism, tragedy and romance.
